A brand new year has just ushered in – here we are, 2024!
With a clear focus, I am endeavouring to complete hundreds of pending projects that have been piling up in my studio, and of course start some new ones.
Travel has moved to the back burner so that I can really build up steam and get creating with new vigour.
Mid 2023, I joined a co-operative art gallery – Pictor Gallery, a comparitively new enterprise, borne from members of other galleries who wanted different and better ways to exhibit. Pictor is located at 547 West 27th Street, New York, NY 10001 on the 2nd floor of a building that contains dozens of other galleries. The different galleries in the building conspire to schedule openings on the same days, so that the venue is usually abuzz with activity on Thursday evenings.
Pictor also features entertaining salons, and I branched into performing my own music – something I have never done before. On November 16, I performed a piece of electronic music entitled Layers, that was partially pre-programmed and partially played live, accompanied by interpretive movement by Cuban artist, Idalmis Garcia. Here is a link to the performance:
I have had pieces of my artwork on exhibit at Pictor since I joined in June 2023, and the latest show has a reception on January 4, 2024. I will be performing another salon at the gallery with composer and artist Damien Olsen on January 11, 2024 at 7pm, while several of my pieces will be on exhibit in a group show until the end of the month.
I will be having a solo exhibition in September of 2024 at Pictor. Stay tuned!
